Bangkok is Broken
I'm going to take a wild guess and say that the non-Thai press is posting something along the lines "PM declares state of emergency due to fighting between Pro-Thaksin supporters of the gov. and anti-government protestors"
The truth is the protestors who are occupying the government compound were attacked by HIRED PRO-THAKSIN and government supporters.
Wild huh?
What is more wild? This mob of people, dressed in red, were led by political party leaders directly affiliated with Thaksin and his puppet Samak (who like a good democratic leader is now trying to shut down a free media station).
Imagine if in the USA either elected democrats or repubs lead an ARMED MOB against a group of people. This is how the mob looked like last night as they approached a line of police who MAGICALLY let them through to attack members of the People's Alliance for Democracy (PAD). The Thai press, still deeply terrified by a possible return of Thaksin to power reported that those dressed in red were "peaceful protestors"....they clearly were not and many were drunk.
One person was already shot by Thaksin supporters. A member of the People's Alliance for Democracy was shot and has died---I rarely stop listening or watching coverage. I only stop when I'm sleeping or when I'm out of the house---so I was surprised to see a young volunteer doctor rush onto the stage saying incomprehensible words. He was overwhelmed by the number of patients with head injuries inflicted by government sponsored "protestors". The truth is the Thai police have been UNABLE to stop PAD which is led by experienced protestors who use non-violent tactics, communication and organization. Because the police have failed---they've brought in CIVILIANS TO DO THEIR DIRTY WORK.
It's clear that Samak engineered this violence to justify declaring a state of emergency in BKK as well as a curfew and the possibility of using deadly force against supporters who have unmasked him, his administration and his daddy Thaksin.
While everyone is watching protests---the truth is the FIGHT IS IN THE COURTS. Both Samak and THAKSIN have several court cases coming up nevermind the fact that Thaksin's wife is an ESCAPED CONVICT.
In fact Thaksin loves this situation because it would "Justify" his seeking of political asylum in the UK----the violence in BKK is something he has engineered through his puppet Samak.
What is happening is unforgiveable.
I am still appalled by any non-Thai media outlet which still thinks Samak loves democracy.
In the 1970s this same man used a radio show to encourage civilians to use violence against student protestors---this resulted in a bloodbath.
So much of what happened in the 70s is repeating itself today...

I saw this morning on TV and was really shocked. Unbelievable. The situation seems to be getting worse.

It reminds me the majority of people and media believe that Putin is democratic as well as his Russia. During the Olympic Games of 2004 I worked with journalists, so I know how they work.

I didn't know that.
The same thing may happen in Greece soon. Strange, though, because people here aren't interested in what's going on in Thailand.
